A Little Splash of Color

Our house is very dark on the outside, dark brick, dark wood, dark stone, so I knew I had to bring in a splash of color.  I saw this pillar idea on Pinterest and knew I wanted to do something similar.  I went to a local warehouse sale a month ago and they had this ugly pillar, plain, with some white paint on it.  I took my Target rug with me to Home Depot and picked out a color that I thought went well with it.  I also wanted a color that would be bright and display any holiday decor I might buy.

The chair...the ugly chair that you cannot sit in.  In fact, at the auction, they had police tape around it so you could not sit in it at all.  There were three of them, but I only wanted one.  I thought about painting it, but I love all of the character in that chair.  Dan used his handy tools to cut me a perfectly perfect circle and my plant is now ready to be planted.

I think it is a good start to our porch...makes me smile.  I am pretty sure the neighbors think I am a bit odd with all of my things...but I'll bring the next batch of margaritas to Margarita Friday and they probably will not care after that.
