Blakelee's first birthday is tomorrow and it is a school day, so I wanted to send a treat for her and her school friends. She is one of the oldest in her class (she moves to a new class in two weeks), so she can enjoy a birthday cupcake and so can a few of her friends (we are sending the fun store bought, school approved cupcakes too). I was trying to think of something they all can have and her teacher and I came up with Cheerios. Well you know I can't just send a box of Cheerios, so I made these little treat bags tonight.

READ!!!
Some of the things I bought yesterday, in the box o' junk was to complete the READING corner in Cole and Blake's playroom. I needed a few fun frames (Hobby Lobby 1/2 off of course) and books or book pages. I found a Curious George Book, The Poky Little Puppy Book, and a few reading flashcards.
I bought 4 red shelves at Garden Ridge that were marked down to $4.99. I turned the shelf upside down to make a book holder instead of an actual shelf.
I bought letters at Hobby Lobby (why yes 1/2 off) and used Modge Podge to cover them - so they would go with our decor. I did spray paint the letters first to hide any imperfections. I still have not "mastered" the whole Modge Podge thing. If I had to guess, the entire project cost about $50-give or take a few pennies.
This morning I added the frames full of book pages and flashcards.
I want to have a playroom that is fun for the kids, yet I want it to fit in with the rest of our house. I think we have a good start!!!

Made With Love
I wanted to do some kind of Mommy Made addition to Blake's vanity area of her bathroom. I decided I wanted to use a Dr. Seuss quote that I found to be so "profound" as we go through life. I bought a piece of canvas, some cheap brushes and an acrylic paint set. I painted the canvas the pink color that is on the walls of her bedroom. I then started making circles all over it. They are not perfect at all. In fact, if you try to make them perfect, it will not work. Just go for it! I then wrote Blakey's quote on the canvas with a Sharpie. I showed Dan my project of the day and asked him if it was too cheesy to hang because you can definitely tell a "non-professional" made it - to which he replied, "That is why you should hang it." I do love that guy!

Pics, Pics, and More Pics!
I made a fun photo collage for the playroom a few weeks ago and as I unpacked more decorative items these past few weeks, I decided to make one for downstairs too. I have always had pictures hanging all over the house, but I now want to add some other special things to our collage to make it more of a "focal" point. I bought a wall cling quote a while back at Hobby Lobby (half off of course). I was a bit skeptical about how "professional" it would look on the wall, but it looks great - almost like I painted it on the wall myself. I printed a couple of new pics for the frames and used a bunch of key/door knob type decor items I had in my old house. It is a great display in our living room. I am having a wonderful time reusing our old things in a new way!

Hippity Hoppity
I saw these ideas on Pinterest and had to do my version for Cole and Blake's teachers and the office staff at their school. They turned out pretty darn cute!
